Community Development II

Vision Community Development II

Establishing independent and prosperous villages through entrepreneurship

Mission Community Development II

  • Increasing entrepreneurship and managerial skills of rural communitites
  • Providing alternative, additional, and sustainable source of income
  • Increasing the additional value of local resources
  • Developing local culture as a capital for the betterment of community prosperity

One of the forms of Prasetiya Mulya’s efforts to support entrepreneurship development  is by arranging a community service program known as kuliah kerja nyata or KKN in Indonesia. In Prasetiya Mulya, this community service program is called Community Development or Comdev program, which is entrepreneurship-based and conducted in rural areas. Comdev program is one of the platform Prasetiya Mulya provides to revitalize national KKN into a more beneficial and accurate program for the independence of rural communitites.

Comdev program is divided into three stages: education, living in the village, and assistance. The most critical stage is the second one, when the students will live among the villagers, some of which will be their partners. For a month, the students and the villagers will run businesses, of which the ideas has been agreed upon beforehand. In that time, the students will also transfer their knowledge to their partners, which includes business expertise in finance, production, marketing, human resources; and managerial skills. At the end of living in the village stage, the students will officially hand over the businesses to their partners to independently run.

Comdev program is conducted with partnership system and host family system. The partnership system means that the businesses will be products of partnerships between students and partners. The students will provide the initial working capital and investment, while their partners will prepare their power and enthusiasm to run the businesses. The host family system means that the villagers will not only be business partners for the students, but also foster parents. This is done to ensure a strong bond between the students and their partners/families so that their businesses will run smoothly.
