AIESEC Exchange in Turkey | First Step for The Future

Adinda Cinta, student of Undergraduate Marketing Prasetiya Mulya batch 2013 shared her experience running AIESEC Exchange project in Turkey. 

The project of “First step for the future” was started on 25 January 2015 at Kayseri, Turkey. But I came up lately at 27 January 2015. It was amazing chance for me. So when I arrived at Kayseri, I loved the weather, how people interactions they were a kindly person. I met another EPs, They are from China, Korea, Ukraine, Algeria, and Egypt. First I lived with an Indonesian girls, but then I moved to another house where I can lived with another EPs.

First week, we just makes some roll call and waiting when the project started. But then in the second week we all prepared for the speaking clubs with student of University Erciyes. And I also do a presentation about our culture. It’s my pleasure to represent my Indonesian Culture and all of them very interested about Indonesia, I am so proud of it.

Suddenly, in the one night my coordinator and her friends prepare some snack and alcohol. I was shocked what’s wrong in here, like they are drinking and one of EPs was drunken, also my coordinator too. So, I was complained to my coordinator in Indonesia, they gave me a contact AIESEC Turkey. I almost wants to change this project. Don’t know how I dare to myself told to all EPs for this bad occurance, fortunately they were agreed and support me to complained. We were cohesive talked smoothly with our TN. It’s because our project didn’t start according to timeline too. We didn’t do our speaking club yet, we still waiting when we are doing our plan before we discussed.

After that, in the few days our TN contact again. She told us, we should attend the University to do our speaking clubs with student. I was very excited to meet the student, we were helped the students to speaking english, share the story in front of the other student, know how they learned english, and had some fun dancing at the stage. And they are enjoyed this program that we made, all of the participant excited and very enthusiasm to learn english.

In the one Sunday morning, we went to Erciyes Mountain to ski. This is the first time I tried to skiing. I was afraid because one of my friend told me that skiing is a dangerous thing. But, I don’t care about it. I felt down many times,and try again to stand up, it was scared for the first time, but then I’d dare to myself. And I’d learned, if you don’t be brave to do something, or never tried something you’ll never knew what really happened. Because its not so hard if you had a courage to this thing,this thought effect to our life.I want to try even more. And it was really fun!

I had learned so much things from these experiences, I became more independent, also more confidence to talk with english speaking. I can give many advices for others and gave them a positive thought,they were agreed about me, gain my knowledge to know what actually happened in another country. Very enjoyed and get a lot of lessons about life from the other people life’s who I met at Kayseri. Miss these moments and all of the people so much, like I had a new bestfriend or even more family. I want meet them again! and became a volunteer to give positive impact again.
