Analytical Lab

This lab is dedicated to the chemical analysis of foodstuffs. Several advanced pieces of equipment is available, including nutrition facts analysis equipment, a texture analyzer, and an Aw meter.

Equipment Usability
  • KjelRoc Scrubber OPSIS
Scrubbers are one of the primary devices that control gaseous emissions, especially acid gases.
  • KjelRoc Analyzer OPSIS
KjelRoc Analyzer is an automatic device integrating distillation and titration functions. It’s equipped with the latest core control system, powerful automatic degree, and high-quality components that can easily achieve automatic distillation, titration, and calculation.
  • Refrigerated Heating Bath
Cooling and heating circulating baths are ideal for laboratory applications where a wide variety of temperature controls are needed. The reservoir in the circulating bath tempers samples along with an integral pump that circulates fluid both internally and externally.
  • SocRox Extraction Unit OPSIS
SoxROC Extraction Unit is an automated hot solvent instrument that can extract fat according to official methods. The instrument is based on Randall and Twisselmann techniques, using hot solvents and a closed system to reduce extraction time versus manual Soxhlet.
  • HydRoc Hydrolysis Unit OPSIS
HydRoc Hydrolysis Unit is an acid hydrolysis system for fat determination according to Weibull-Stoldt. The complete digestion and filtration process runs in a closed system. The hazardous Hydrolysis process can now safely be performed with up to six samples simultaneously.
  • Fume Hood
A laboratory fume hood is a type of ventilation system that primarily functions to provide personnel protection against toxic fumes, vapors, and dust. Its secondary function includes protection against chemical spills, runaway reactions, and fires by acting as a physical barrier.
  • Homogenizer
A homogenizer is a piece of laboratory or industrial equipment used for the homogenization of various types of material, such as tissue, plant, food, soil, and many others
  • AW Meter
An AW Meter is a device to measure the unbound water vapor pressures to determine microbial spoilage, and chemical, and physical stability.
  • Color reader
The color reader is a device for measuring the color and whiteness of foods or raw materials in paste, solid, or powder form
  • Digestor
SoxROC Extraction Unit is an automated hot solvent instrument that can extract fat according to official methods. The instrument is based on Randall and Twisselmann techniques, using hot solvents and a closed system to reduce extraction time versus manual Soxhlet. The SoxROC follows officially approved methods for fat extraction.
  • Analytical Balance
Analytical balances are highly sensitive lab instruments designed to accurately measure mass. Their readability has a range between 0.1mg – 0.01mg. Analytical balances have a draft shield or weighing chamber to prevent very small samples from being affected by air currents.
  • Mini Chiller
A chiller is a machine that removes heat from a liquid. This liquid can then be circulated through a heat exchanger to cool equipment.
  • Rotary Evaporator
The purpose of the rotovap is to remove low-boiling organic chemicals, usually solvents, from a mixture of compounds. The rotary evaporator is the method of choice for solvent removal in the modern organic laboratory. The solvents or low-boiling compounds are removed by simple distillation. The rotovap is designed to be operated under a vacuum (to lower a compound’s boiling point) while heating the sample at the same time. A condenser is used to condense the vapors into a liquid, which is trapped in a separate flask.
