Food Processing Lab
This lab is for food processing and production research, the lab is equipped with mini plants for the processing of beverages and food (e.g. flour and pasta). This mini plant is supported by several advanced equipments such as a blast chiller, modified atmosphere packaging, retort system, and freeze dryer.
Equipment Usability
- Laboratory Oven
The laboratory oven is designed to heat samples only. Unlike a drying oven, a lab oven will recirculate the same air around the chamber. As a result, a lab oven will provide heating only. Laboratory ovens will be a suitable option if you are only requiring heating functionality.
- Freeze Dryer
A freeze Dryer can be used for dry liquid materials such as extracts, both liquid and viscous. Freeze dryer is also known as freeze sublimation dryer because of the use of the physical sublimation principle, in a high vacuum environment, food is frozen in water (ice) without melting, directly sublimation from ice to vapor. Freeze dryer using Imported compressor, stable and reliable performance; Widely used in food, biological products, chemistry, Chinese medicine, health products, and other fields.

A device like storage or cabinet that used to maintain a temperature below the freezing point of water
- Refrigerator
The refrigerator is used to cool and store food to keep the food inside remains fresh. The cold temperature will slow down the bacteria to break down the food ingredients. This will make food ingredients such as vegetables, fruits, and milk become more durable.
- Blast Chiller
A chiller is used for lower temperatures in certain processes and equipment. The device works by removing heat using a cooling system to remove heat from the load process and then transfer or release heat to the environment.
- Pasta Maker
A pasta maker is a medium-sized kitchen tool designed to simplify the process of rolling and cutting egg noodles, or other kinds of dough to make fresh pasta such as ravioli, lasagne, fettuccine, and tagliatelle. The machine is used to roll pasta dough into a progressively thinner sheet with each pass through the machine.
- Viscometer
A viscometer is an instrument used to measure fluid viscosity and the flow properties of liquids. This instrument uses the principle of ‘rotational viscometry’, i.e. their measurement of product viscosity is based upon immersing a specifically selected spindle within a sample of the product followed by measurement of the torque required to rotate the spindle at a set speed when immersed within the product sample.
- Oven Dehydrator
Oven Dehydrator is used to preserve food so that the food storage period can be longer. It is used to preserve fruits, vegetables and herbs, fish, and meats in under 6 hours. It is also equipped with a timer and temperature controller. This device can also function as an oven.
- Small Sample Adapter & Chamber
The Small Sample Adapter (SSA) is used for viscosity measurements. It consists of a cylindrical sample chamber and spindle and provides a defined geometry system for accurate viscosity measurements of small sample volumes in the order of 2 to 16 mL at precise shear rates. it is equipped with a sample chamber that fits into a flow jacket so that precise temperature control can be achieved when a Brookfield circulating temperature bath is used. Direct readout of sample temperature is provided using sample chambers with embedded RTD temperature sensors connected to the DV1 (w/temperature option), DV2T, or the DV3T Ultra. The working temperature range for the SSA is from 1°C to 100°C.
- Pasteurizer
Pasteurizer is used to inactivate pathogenic microorganisms by heating up to a defined temperature, usually to less than 100 °C for a specific period to eliminate pathogens and extend shelf life. It can be used for pasteurizing food and jars, with the optional cook chill system, cooking, and cooling of the product can take place inside the tank. The pasteurizer is equipped with a sample probe which allows for checking the temperature at the core of the product.
- Food Dehydrator
A food dehydrator is used for removes moisture from food to aid in its preservation. This device can be used to preserve fruit, vegetables, and meats. It is also equipped with a timer and temperature controller.
- Spray Dryer
A spray dryer is an instrument used for changing liquid or slurry materials into dry powders or mixes by rapidly drying with a hot gas.
- Sealer
A vacuum Sealer is a machine that is used to vacuum the air from the space around your food and then uses a heated to fuse the sides of the pouch together. Exposure to air will spoil food or make it go stale over time. Vacuum sealing deprives your food of oxygen. Mold and bacteria can not grow without oxygen so it can preserve food by preventing the growth of mold or bacteria. Vacuum sealing also protects food from dehydration.
